BHADRAK, March 14: Tension gripped Kandaba village under Agarapada police station jurisdiction following the death of two persons and damage to paddy crops by wild elephants today.
According to reports, a herd of elephants, including a tusker, invaded Kandaba village and its adjacent areas and wrecked havoc on the life and property of people.
While Samvunath Das (48) and Magunia Sahoo (50) were trampled to death, five were injured in melee caused by the marauding elephants. An 18-year-old boy, Srikanta Swain, who was seriously injured, is now battling for life at a hospital in Cuttack. Others were admitted to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital
