A group of around 11 elephants from the Lakhari forests in Gajapati district has been wandering outside their habitat for nearly one month now.

The group that killed Apudu Sabar (35) and his 10-year-old daughter Champa Sabar also injured Apudu's wife Oralu Sabar.
The victims were guarding their cashew orchard near Padigaonguda village under Kashinagar Block of Gajapati when the elephants attacked them in the dead of the night.

The same of elephants, which had last month strayed into the neighbouring Rayagada district, had killed two persons under the Gunupur sub-division and injured several others.
