ERODE: Three elephants on Thursday morning entered into a two-acre banana field at Vellalapalayam near Bhavanisagar here and extensively damaged the crop cultivated there. The owner, M Palanisamy, estimated that the loss would be around Rs 2 lakh.
The villagers said that such incidents were common in the area. “The loss incurred due to elephant attacks is affecting our livelihood,” said Palanisamy. “We urge the state government to provide compensation for the loss,” he added.
