Six year-old elephant rescued by Forest staff



Hassan, Mar 12 (UNI) A six year-old elephant, which was caught in sluggish mud, was rescued by the forest officials at Magge forest of Alur taluk in this district on Monday.

According to Forest officials, a heard of about six elephants entered Magge Forest range last night in search of water. However, one of the elephant which entered the pond was struck in sluggish mud and was unable to come out. This morning the villagers noticed and informed the forest officials.
The forest officials struggled for four hours to lift the elephant with the help of JCB and succeeded.
The elephant, which struggled through out the night in the mud, after being rescued attacked the JCB and others. Thereafter, with people cheers and sound, the elephant returned to the forest.
