Woman trampled to death by elephant

IDUKKI: A woman working on a cardamom estate was seriously injured when she was attacked by a wild elephant at Kurangupara, near Rajakkad

The worker, Sathya from Tamil Nadu, was attacked as she fell on the ground while trying to escape from the elephant, according to eyewitnesses.

The elephant trampled her. After giving preliminary treatment at a private hospital at Rajakkad, she was shifted to the Theni Medical College.

Officials of the Forest Department and the police later chased the animal away to the forest.
