Wild Elephant captured in Madikeri
A wild elephant was captured by forest Department officials near Suntikoppa near Kushalnagara in the district on Wednesday.
The elephant, which had created a havoc, was captured and shifted to Dubare Elephant Camp.
The elephant had attacked several residents in the past few months. It had also destroyed the coffee, coconut and banana plantations. Moreover, the elephant had chased the vehicles, especially two wheelers, travelling on the Suntikoppa-Kushalanagar Highway.
In an attack by this elephant, Ibrahim (64), a coffee estate manager, had a narrow escape from the jaws of death only 15 days ago.
Deputy Conservator of Forests Manjunath said, "The elephant was captured at the Lalithadri Estate to prevent anymore harm to life and property. The elephant is aged around 19 years and is healthy.
