Elephant in captivity injures man
BENGALURU: A 27-year-old man sustained injuries on his chin and ribs
after an elephant in captivity attacked him in Tumakuru on Saturday
morning. The incident took place on the premises of Anjaneya Swamy
Temple in Kora taluk of Tumakuru district. The injured, Prakash Kumar, has
been shifted to Siddaganga hospital and is out of danger, police said.
The elephant, which is under the local mutt administration, was standing
outside the temple when the incident took place around 9am, police said.
“Prakash is a local resident and was feeding bananas to the jumbo. For
some reason, he bent and the elephant too turned its trunk in the same
direction. Pratap was thrown 10-ft up in the air,” temple sources told police.
