Elephant and two calves rescued by forest department
Madikeri, Karnataka, Mar 8 (UNI) The Karnataka forest department officials with local people
rescued two calves and an adult elephant which accidentally fell into an coffee estate pond in
Chelavara village near Cheyyandane in the district on Thursday.
Forest department officials said on Friday that the residents who were saw trumpeting sounds
found three elephants trapped in the pond used to water a coffee plantation owned by
Pattacheravanda Vasu Subbaiah yesterday.
As the pond is deep, the jumbos, despite repeated attempts, could not come out.
