Tusker died due to electrocution in Bandipur National Park

Chamarajanagara, Mar 19(UNI) A 20 year-old Tusker found dead when it came in contact with a
live cablewire drawn to illegally electrify fence surrounding a Farmland in Kundkere Range of

Bandipur forest range.

Officials said on Tuesday that they found the elephant dead and booked a case against the
landlord who is absconding.

Postmortem was conducted and carcass of the elephant was buried.

The first such incident occurred in Bandipur Tiger Reserve and the department has also filed a
complaint against Chamundeshwari Electrical Supply Corporation for failure to monitor and
crack down on power tapping illegally.

Male elephant dies of electric shock in Odisha

DHENKANAL (ODISHA): A male elephant died of electrocution after coming in contact with a live electric wire near a forest in Dhenkanal district, officials said.

The jumbo, aged around 35 years, was found dead on Wednesday near Dudurkote forest under the jurisdiction of Hindol forest range in the district, the Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF), Jitendranath Das said.

The elephant's carcass was spotted by local residents and they informed forest officials, Das said adding the elephant came in contact with a live electric wire, suspected to have been laid by some miscreants, to kill wild boars.

An investigation has been initiated and post-mortem examination was being conducted on the carcass of the elephant, Das said.

Efforts are on to identify the miscreants who had laid the electric wire in the area, police said.

Earlier in October 2018, seven wild elephants died of electrocution after coming in contact with a sagging power line near Kamalanga village in the same district.

Adult tusker dies of intestinal worms

Erode: An adult tusker was found dead in the reserve forest in the district on Wednesday. Forest officials said the tusker died due to intestinal worms.

The carcass of the elephant was found by forest staff during their routine patrol in Chellampalayam beat of South Bargur reserve forest area near Andhiyur on Wednesday. They informed the senior officials, who visited the spot and conducted inquiries.

Later, an autopsy was performed and it revealed that the elephant died to intestinal infections. The carcass was left behind for other wild animals to feed on, said a forest officer.

Illegal electric fence claims tusker’s life

ERODE: A 25-year-old tusker was killed after it came into contact with live
wires of an illegal electric fence erected around a maze field near

Kermalam here on Friday. Forest officials have arrested the land owner in connection with the incident.

According to forest officials, the carcass of the elephant was first spotted
by villagers near the maze field on the early hours of Friday. The villagers
immediately alerted the Kermalam forest officials.

Investigation revealed that the land owner, identified as K Rangaraj, 42, of
Sujalkarai Meesaikarathotti village near Kermalam, had installed an electric fence around the field
