Wild elephant attacks elderly man in Vellingiri Hills
In a suspected case of an attack by a wild elephant, a 75-year-old siddha doctor was found dead on Wednesday in the jungles of Vellingiri Hills near here, police said. Kitty of Mullankadu tribal village had left home for the hills on Tuesday afternoon to collect medicinal herbs and did not return, the police said. Kitty's family grew anxious as he would usually be back home by dusk, they said.
Since it was dark already, the villagers went in search of him this morning and found his body with injuries apparently caused by an elephant, the police said. However, forest officials and policemen moved the body to the government hospital here for a postmortem.

Tribal man trampled to death by wild elephant
Kannur, Dec 8 (UNI) A tribal man was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Aralam farm near
Iritty on Satruday.
According to Aralam police, the deceased was identified as M Krishnan (48) an Adivasi residing
in the tenth block of Aralam farm, the lone tribal rehabilitation Centre in the State.
The incident occurred around 1400 hrs while he was returning to work place after having lunch.
He died on the spot.
The agitating tribals prevented the police and forest officials from shifting the body demanding
the visit of District Collector or District Forest Officer (DFO) to the spot as this was the second
wild elephant attack at Aralam farm with in a short span of time.

Elephant attack kills two girls in Mahiyanganaya – Daily Mirror
Two girls aged 9 and 11-years were killed last night following a wild elephant attack in Mapakada Wewa area, Mahiyanganaya, Police said.
They said the girls were attacked after they came out from their house when the elephant demolished a wall.
The girls were identified as Mohammad Ismail Rasmi (9) and Anvar Unma Raasiya (10).
