Heartbreaking moment! Mother elephant tries to revive her dead calf

The heart breaking footage was captured in Assam's Udalgudi tea garden. The video shows the grieving mother moving around the limp, lifeless body of the baby elephant.

Villagers and forest officials tried to separate the two by making loud noises and bursting firecrackers, but the mother stood strong and did not seperate the young one from her.

The grief-stricken mother pushes around the limp calf with her trunk as she tries to wake her baby, the villagers said.

The Veterinary Department said that they wanted to treat the calf but they were unable to do so as they could not separate them even after hectic efforts.
