Wild elephant herd kill four people in Assam’s West Karbi Anglong district
Guwahati, Dec 4 (IBNS): The man-elephant conflict has reached alarming proportions in Assam.
Four people, including a 12-year-old minor boy, were trampled to death by a group of wild elephants in Assam’s West Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday.
The incident took place at Bagisadubi village near Kheroni in the hill district.
According to the reports, a group of 150 wild jumbos on Monday night came out from nearby jungle to Bagisadubi village for searching foods.
On Tuesday morning, the wild elephants had attacked few people, when they were busy in work at a sugarcane field.
Four people including a 12-year-old minor boy died on spot in elephant attack.
Local villagers said that, the group of elephants roamed around Bagisadubi, Bogorighat, Phelangpi.
The deceased persons were identified as 65-year-old Lakhiya Devi, 12-year-old Mahit Chouhan, 35-year-old Purnima Thapa and 47-year-old Lakhsmi Devi.
According to the Assam government data, over 670 people have been died in incidents related to man-elephant conflict in Assam in past eight years.
