Brave dog helps defend village against lone elephant

Description

A elephant strayed into Pathakota village near Hosur in South India on January 2.

The lone tusker was in a foul mood and threatening to attack people and property.

Scared villagers gathered to try to drive the elephant away from the village. As it was very aggressive none dared to get close.

A dog from the village was an exception.

It trailed the elephant continuously barking at it and even got close several times to have a go at its ankles.

The irritated elephant would try to attack, but the dog was too agile to get caught.

The elephant gave in and went away.
