HC directs state to disclose details about 2018’s recused elephants
Nainital: Uttarakhand high court on Wednesday directed the state government to file a status report about rescued elephants from private owners in Ramnagar last year. The direction came after a Ghaziabad businessman filed an application citing that they had all requisite permissions to have a pachyderm and was taking good care.
In September 2018, the HC had directed the state government to ‘release sufficient funds for maintenance of elephants’ including their specialised treatment after being rescued from resorts and private farm houses in August 2018 by the state forest department.
